A British fantasy writer and film editor, Joe Abercrombie, best known for “The First Law” trilogy, which is also the name of the series including stand alone novels, short stories and a second trilogy, called “The Age of Madness”. As an avid video game player, Abercrombie has admitted that games like Civilisation, Age of Empires and Dungeon Master have been a big influence on his writing. He began writing the “The Blade Itself”, the first book in “The First Law” trilogy in 2002 and it was picked up for publishing in 2006 by Gollancz, a former British publishing house.
